Northwest Nassau Natural Gas Integrity Project

National Grid is modernizing its natural gas system in Northwest Nassau County. This project, known as the Northwest Nassau Natural Gas Integrity Project, is intended to improve system safety and provide greater operational flexibility. Since the project began in June 2017, National Grid has installed two regulator stations in Roslyn Heights and Old Westbury and nearly four miles of new gas main.

In the winter and spring of 2022, National Grid will install a new underground gas main in the Village of Garden City. Beginning on or about June 30, 2021, National Grid contractors were expected to begin excavating small "test pits" along the proposed project route as part of the project's design process. These small holes will be dug and filled on the same day and the pavement restored. These test pits will be dug on Eleventh Street, Kellum Lane, and Kellum Place. National Grid has advised that the road will be restored in kind or better following the completion of the project.
