The Village Historian is appointed by the Mayor of the Village of Garden City and is a volunteer position.
The Historian is responsible for collecting, preserving and making available material relating to the Village's history: photographs, correspondence, newspaper files and records of community activities. In addition to historic preservation, the Village Historian provides information to interested residents and those doing research such as genealogists and authors of historical books and articles. The Historian is a member of the Garden City Historical Society.
